No ghost jobs
A vacancy should not stay in public job search when there is no real opening behind it. These are the checks the site can prove today.
Every job has a posted time
Every job record has the time it was added to BetterJobs.lk. The job page shows how long ago it was posted. This tells you the age of the advert. It does not prove when the employer first started hiring.
New adverts get a closing date
- A person posting a new job can choose a closing date. If they leave it blank, the site sets one 14 days after posting.
- After that date, the advert is removed from public job lists and it stops accepting applications on this site. A direct link may still show the old advert so a visitor can see that applications are closed.
- Some older job records can have no closing date. Those records do not expire by date automatically. We cannot honestly say that every old advert has a closing date until those records are fixed.
New employer adverts wait for approval
- An employer must verify access to their email before using the employer job form. A new advert starts as Pending and stays out of public job search until an administrator approves it. A guest submission also goes to an administrator before it is published.
- Approval and the Verified badge are separate. Approved means the advert may be public. It does not automatically give the advert a Verified badge.
What Verified means
- Verified is a status on an advert, not on the whole employer. The employer job form cannot award it. An administrator can set it, and the admin review flows set it when a submitted or imported advert is published. Those screens show the submitted contact details, company name, role, location, closing date, application instructions, notes and any uploaded poster.
- The code records the status, but it does not record which checks a reviewer completed. It does not require a separate company-registration, phone or workplace check. We therefore do not claim that the badge proves those checks happened. Verified is not a promise that the employer will interview or hire you.
Paid placement does not buy trust
A Promoted advert has paid for a more visible position. Payment does not make it Verified. When the paid period ends, the site removes the Promoted status. This is separate from the advert's closing date.
Report a job that is not real
Tell us if an advert is fake, already closed, copied from another employer, asks you for money, or has no real vacancy behind it. Include the job link and explain what is wrong. We review reports about fake jobs first.
